This corner desk is a great value and can be a really practical addition to a home, but it requires some extra work to make that happen.1. The hardware included is nowhere near adequate for a sturdy installation unless you’re only putting a small potted plant and some picture frames on it. If you want to use it as a small computer workstation with a monitor and you’ll be putting some extra weight on it when typing or leaning on it with an elbow or two, then you need to supply your own hardware. I used 1/4” lag bolts for attaching to studs and 1/4” toggle bolts for the drywall only spots. This also means I had to drill new attachment holes to hit a couple studs. Finally, because the lag bolts and toggle bolts have larger heads, I had to drill relief indents into the desk where it sits up against the wall plate. All this work is invisible and none of this is beyond a decent DIY buyer, but it does take some extra work. My result is incredibly sturdy and now I don’t worry my toddler will pull it down on his head if he happens to grab the edge and try to hang on it or something. I would not trust the included hardware at all, toddler or not.2. It’s possible your walls are not a perfect 90 degrees in the corner like mine. I was over 90 degrees, so I put stacked washers as spacers between the wall and mounting plates along one side where necessary to make up the difference. If you’re under 90 degrees, then it’s going to be tougher. Check your intended corner before you buy.3. I hate visible cords, so I installed outlets up under it where it’s not visible (advanced DIY or electrician) and then drilled two surface holes. One for a cable grommet for the monitor power cable etc, and one for a power/USB grommet. Both grommets bought from Amazon. I then secured the power grommet wire on the underside with screw down zip ties.At a minimum, you should replace the hardware. The electrical work and grommets are extra credit. But after all this work, I am super pleased with this little workspace! Not the greatest quality stainThis corner shelving unit was exactly what I needed for my home recording set-up. Very well built and easy to install.
