I was excited to receive my desk to start up a home office area, only to discover that my lovely desk had an issue with the desk tray structure. The stapled joint had come apart slightly. I thought it could be fixed and reached out to request a discount for the product that had arrived damaged. They were most responsive and asked how much of a discount. By then I had removed the full top from the shipping box and removed the keyboard tray, which caused the structure to pull apart at the other end. But still, it's hard wood I thought, perhaps I can nail it back together. I asked for a significant discount and was so pleased to receive a response back telling me they had filed a warranty claim due to the damage and could either refund in full or send out a new desk (this was on a Sunday, 2 days after receiving the desk). I told them I would love a replacement. They shipped out Monday and I received Wednesday. Talk about speedy! I excitedly opened my replacement desk's box only to find things very, very wrong.... There were bits of styrofoam everywhere, loose screws (but not from the hardware bag), even loose silver balls. This desk was damaged in the same place as the prior desk, but worse. The other side had split a bit and the loose screws were from the keyboard tray structure having ripped apart from the top. The balls had fallen from the keyboard tray hardware. It was absolute carnage. I reached out immediately and they told me to submit a return request thru Amazon and I did get my money back. I thought maybe I could salvage scraps from the broken desk, but it was absolutely annihilated. They definitely need to improve on their shipping packaging. Although their customer service was spectacular, and the desk appears to be a solid, beautiful structure, the fact that it crumbled the way it did from China to my doorstep tells me it's not that well constructed. I can also tell you, having had to deconstruct the whole thing in order to dispose of it, it is NOT solid wood. It is MDF with oak veneer. It looks great and feels heavy and solid but those handy wings that are attached with hinges are screwed into MDF underside and not wood. The structure for the keyboard tray is also laminated MDF. I suspect even if I had received one with no defects, the ultimate longevity is a little questionable (did I mention the keyboard tray structure is largely glued to the top, not a lot of screws to hold it). I gave three stars for stellar and responsive customer service, but the hassle and stress over the desk was a real disappointment (and total bummer for a desk with a great space saving design). This is an excellent desk, especially for being able to fit into small spaces without feeling cramped. The wood is genuinely nice. However, the hinge broke after about a year of use. I will reach out to Leick Support once I figure out how.Bought this desk as a student looking for something sturdier and hopefully more long term than the cheap throwaways from the local Target during the college move-in craze. As of writing this, I've owned the desk for 3 months.Pros would be the lovely finish, the solid wood construction, and its simple but delightfully practical design: the extendable arms give me all the room I need to get my desk organizer and lamp on while leaving room for my gaming laptop (17 inches), mousepad, and a whole lot of homework plus miscellaneous desk junk. There's a pull-out drawer, which is great for putting papers and small items. The even better part is that you can knock out the front, turning it into a flat platform for extra space and functionality. Looking at some of the reviews that complain about the drawer not being large enough for a laptop and a mouse -- that is a true statement, but I honestly don't imagine working in that position to be hugely comfortable, seeing that you'd be looking at the monitor less at eye level and closer to your knees (and then awkwardly maneuvering around your laptop so you don't push the drawer back in whenever you needed to grab something off the desk). Just put the laptop on top of the desk, and consider using the pull-out drawer for writing notes or, if you have one, a graphic tablet. I'm also not going to lie: as a student, I've also had more than a fair share of noodles or drink perched on the drawer's edge. If you also do so, take care not to accidentally push the drawer in, lest you send everything tumbling in a hot, greasy mess to the floor.Additionally, there's a convenient little cable organizer cut out in the both the back of the desk and the drawer. It's not mind-blowingly amazing, but it's definitely useful if you keep various electric devices (like a lamp) on your desk permanently. It keeps me from kicking the wires into an ungodly mess, and makes vacuuming a ton easier. Now for the big cons: shipping can be iffy. When I first received the package, I was mildly disappointed to see the one of the screws had come out (accompanied with a smattering of wood dust and unfortunate splintery bits lining the packaging). I'm assuming it came out sometime during the process of leaving the factory and coming to my place. Not a huge deal - I grabbed the wayward piece and screwed it back in, but it's a little thing that can be annoying, considering I could have accidentally stepped on the piece if it rolled onto my floor or if it compromised the stability of my desk. Really, it's a minor complaint in regard to many other things that could have gone wrong, but I feel it's important to note.Assembly isn't a problem. If a 5 foot, 2 inch college kiddo can handle it with minimal fuss, you should be able to. Just read the instructions and you can't go wrong, since it's literally sliding pieces into place and then sticking a few screws where they need to go. Granted, I had an athletic background in high school, but I think I say with confidence that nothing is too heavy to lift or maneuver. In sum: lovely-looking desk, solid wood, nifty pull-out drawer, cable organizer, extendable arms, shipping can be crappy and knock screws loose, easy assembly. I use this desk every day. It's pretty great so far.I would mark down the stars further if it weren't such a handy desk. It does just what I wanted in a tricky space. So, I'm glad I have it. But I never, never, could have assembled it on my own.Loved the desk but it was poorly packed and it came in broken. Had to return, darn it!I love it. It is very sturdy, beautiful and a great value.I only had it a couple of months and the hinge on the foldout drawer broke. Leick sent a couple of replacement hinges so we will see how long last. I really like the desk though and it looks nice.Came with multiple damages including a dent in top and a broken part that holds out one side. Didn’t notice extensive damage to the box so manufacturer should improve packaging. Otherwise, I love the desk and the ability to modify the size when not using. And love the drop down drawer for the keyboard.I waited a year and a half before buying this desk as I was waiting for the price to drop. Now that I have it, I am delighted with it. Very well made and easy to assemble the two side panels that form the "legs" of the desk. The colour and finish are top quality. The assembly instructions left much to be desired as no mention was made of ensuring that the glides which support the drop-leaf sides needed to be pulled out before the side panels were attached. This meant we had to unassemble everything in order to pull out the glides ( there is a wood pin perpendicular to front end of each glide bar that made it impossible to slide out when the side panels were attached). This information should definitely have been included in the instructions. The desk arrived well packaged and protected and there was no damage even though the shipper managed to punch two sizeable holes through the cardboard box.Desk seemed quite easy to assemble. I love the look and the color. The drop leaf side panels are really great in terms of how big you want it to be in a certain space. The drop leaf are really easy to put up and down. The color advertised is "Chocolate Cherry" but it's more chocolate than cherry. Still love it.Very nice quality, solid desk. It holds two 24" monitors comfortably, and looks good at the same time. It came in three pieces, and was easy to assemble. The drawer is a little narrow for a regular sized keyboard and a mouse, so I use the mouse on the desk surface. You could get a small keyboard and both would fit in the drawer just fine.We bought this close to a year ago as a school work desk for my son and so far so good. Very easy to assemble, solid and it looks very nice in it's corner. I like the versatility of the fold out wings, which allow it to fit in a smaller space for now, but in the future it could be used as a larger work area if space allows.Very well built. Awsome. I got no instructions manual to put it together however it was realy quite easy to put together. I dad some awfull delivery problems with CP. But nothing to do with the Vender.
